How the estimate works

Your room dimensions determine usable shelf area. From there, the calculator estimates compost, harvest, production costs, asset investment and payback.

1Layout

Calculate usable shelving

Room width determines one or two shelving banks after wall clearances and working access are reserved.

Banks × width × length × levels
2Production

Estimate the saleable harvest

Shelf area determines compost loading. Compost tons are then multiplied by the selected local or imported yield rate.

Compost × yield × saleable %
3Financials

Project profit and payback

Annual revenue is reduced by every cycle cost. Asset CAPEX is compared with operating profit to estimate simple payback.

Revenue − annual production costs

Planning estimate: Results are not an investment guarantee. Confirm the room layout, climate requirements, contamination risk, supplier quotations and customer demand before investing.

White button mushroom calculator FAQ

Practical answers based on the assumptions used in Mycotech's Lebanon-focused planning calculator.

Is white button mushroom farming profitable in Lebanon?

Profitability depends on room utilization, compost performance, selling price and verified operating costs. This calculator estimates annual revenue, production cost, operating profit and simple payback using editable Lebanon-focused assumptions.

How much compost is needed for a white button mushroom room?

The planning defaults use 90 kg of local compost or 85 kg of imported compost per square metre of productive shelf area. The calculator multiplies the selected rate by the shelving area.

How is white button mushroom production estimated?

Gross harvest is estimated from compost tons multiplied by the yield rate. The defaults are 250 kg of mushrooms per ton of local compost and 300 kg per ton of imported compost, followed by an editable saleable-harvest percentage.

What costs are included in the mushroom production estimate?

The estimate includes compost, casing soil, electricity, labour, packaging, disinfectants, transport and an editable allowance for water, maintenance, waste handling, administration and other costs.

How is the initial asset investment calculated?

The asset estimate combines the climate system, heating and cooling assets, and shelving estimated at $25 per square metre of productive shelf area. First-cycle production costs are excluded.

Are the calculator results a feasibility study?

No. The result is an early planning estimate. Room design, climate loads, contamination risk, supplier quotations, financing and customer demand must be verified before investment.
